Zone by Zone: What Actually Happens
Zone 1: Explore — The Durian Discovery Tour
Duration: approximately 20–30 minutes
The experience begins outdoors in the working durian orchard. A trained guide leads you through the grove, stopping at points of particular interest. You'll see live durians tied overhead in the canopy — a cultivation technique unique to Malaysian orchards that you'll now understand completely by the time the tour ends.
Key moments in this zone:
- Reading a tree's annual rings to estimate its age — and understanding why older trees produce more complex, higher-Brix durian
- Seeing parasitic plants that grow alongside durian trees and their relationship to the ecosystem
- Live demonstration durians tied to branches — the guide explains exactly why, and what happens if they aren't
- Understanding the difference between a naturally fallen durian and a commercially cut one, and why it matters for flavour
Tip: Wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing for this zone. The orchard is a natural outdoor environment. Morning sessions are cooler and more comfortable for the outdoor walk.

Zone 2: Play — Carnival Games and Claw Machine
Duration: approximately 15–20 minutes
The Play zone is durian-themed and consistently more fun than visitors expect. Each ticket includes carnival game tokens. The zone features:
- Durian-themed carnival games
- Motion sensor interactive game
- Claw machine loaded with exclusive DurianBB merchandise and collectibles
Tip: Set time expectations with children before this zone — it's the hardest to leave. Adults are equally susceptible.

Zone 3: Interact — Science Magic Show and Mascot Meet
Duration: approximately 20 minutes
The Science Magic Show is structured like theatre, not a classroom lesson. It's a live science performance packed with surprising demonstrations and magic-style reveals — genuinely entertaining for visitors of all ages, and a great energy boost between the orchard tour and the tasting session.
After the show, DurianBB's character mascots appear for a meet-and-greet and photo session. For families with young children, this produces the best photos of the entire visit.

Zone 4: Learn + Taste — The Durian Master Class
Duration: approximately 30–40 minutes
The centrepiece of the entire visit. A guided tasting of DurianBB's Signature Durian Tasting Platter — featuring freshly harvested premium Malaysian durian varieties including Musang King (Mao Shan Wang). The guide presents each variety in sequence, covering:
- Origin and cultivation region of each variety
- Grading criteria: Brix level, flesh colour, seed-to-flesh ratio, aroma profile
- Flavour sequencing — from mild (D24) to complex (Musang King)
- How to taste durian correctly: what to smell before opening, what to look for in the flesh, how to describe what you're experiencing
Every guest who completes the Master Class receives a certificate of completion — the most distinctive durian souvenir available in Malaysia.

What to Bring and Wear
| Category | Recommendation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Footwear | Closed-toe shoes or sneakers | Orchard terrain is uneven; durian husks are thorny |
| Clothing | Light, breathable, long pants | Outdoor walk in Malaysian heat; orchard environment |
| Hat/cap | Recommended for afternoon sessions | Sun exposure during the outdoor orchard walk |
| Insect repellent | Apply before the orchard zone | Natural orchard environment |
| Appetite | Come slightly hungry | The Master Class tasting is substantial |
Tips for Getting the Most from Your Visit
- Book the morning session (10:15AM) if you can — the orchard is cooler, the guide is freshest, and the lighting for photos is better in the grove.
- Arrive 10 minutes early — the guided orchard tour begins promptly and latecomers only can accommodate mid-tour.
- Tell the guide your durian experience level at the start — first-timers get different contextual explanations than experienced durian lovers, and a good guide will adjust accordingly.
- Sessions can fill up quickly, especially on weekends and public holidays — arriving early or checking availability ahead of time is a good idea.
- Don't eat a heavy meal beforehand — you'll want a full appetite for the Master Class tasting.
