The Perfect Durian Day Trip from KL: A Full Itinerary
If you've decided to dedicate an entire day in Kuala Lumpur to durian — and it's a decision that will make complete sense by the end of it — this itinerary gives you a full day that moves from orchard education to premium tasting to the best durian products KL has to offer, without a wasted hour.
This itinerary is designed around the morning session at DurianBB Academy, which gives you the rest of the afternoon and evening for the city-centre durian trail. It works without a car.
Morning: DurianBB Academy, Seri Kembangan (10:00AM – 12:30PM)
9:45AM — Leave for UPM Station
Take the MRT Putrajaya Line to UPM Station PY34. WhatsApp +6012-8221659 during your journey — the shuttle van will meet you at Exit A and take you to the Academy. Allow 25–30 minutes from central KL.
10:00AM — Morning Session Begins
The four-zone experience starts on time. Zone 1 — the Durian Discovery Tour — takes you through the working orchard. Musang King durians hang overhead, tied to branches in the technique unique to Malaysian cultivation. You'll spend 20–30 minutes here and leave understanding something about durian that no stall visit could teach you.
10:35AM — Play and Interact Zones
Carnival games, the motion sensor zone, and the Science Magic Show. The show is a live science performance packed with surprising demonstrations and magic-style reveals. Twenty minutes that make the tasting that follows significantly more meaningful.
11:20AM — The Durian Master Class
The centrepiece of the day. Freshly harvested premium varieties — Musang King (Mao Shan Wang), D24, and potentially seasonal specials — presented in guided sequence. By the time you taste Musang King, you've seen it growing, heard the science behind it, and understand why it costs what it costs. The difference from a stall tasting is immense. Certificate collected. Day properly begun.
12:00PM — Shuttle Back to UPM Station
WhatsApp the team for the return shuttle. You're back on the MRT by 12:15PM.
Afternoon: KL City Centre Durian Trail (2:00PM – 6:00PM)
2:00PM — DurianBB Central Market, Pasar Seni
Take the MRT to Pasar Seni station.
